Loss

This time of year is hard for me.  Three years ago this week my sons lost their Dad.  He died young and my boys were devastated.  It was a horrible time for us.

The tragedy in Connecticut yesterday slammed that all home for me.  I can't imagine what those parents are trying to deal with.  I really can't imagine.  I know how hard it was to tell my boys about their Dad's death, but I can not imagine hearing that about either of my boys.  Especially since I would have sent them to school that morning, their little bodies trying to hold up their big boy backpacks.  They were both so happy to put on their backpacks and go to school.  For them it was a place they felt safe and important and happy.  They would both come home at night and be so excited to show me their papers and drawings.  For either of them  not to come home -- I just don't have the words to express my feelings for that.

My deepest sympathies are with the families in Connecticut and anyone who is dealing with the loss of a loved one.

  1. I CAN'T GET IT OFF MY MIND NOT MATTER HOW HARD I TRY. YESTERDAY ALL I COULD DO WAS CRY, EACH TIME I READ A DIFFERENT POST, NEWS UPDATES, T.V. EVERYTHING. TODAY I AM DOING MY BEST TO TURN THOSE TEARS INTO PRAYERS FOR EACH AND EVERYONE OF THOSE FAMILIES.

  3. I can't believe it will be a week tomorrow - being in the tri-state area we are still getting constant news coverage - I don't know if that is good or not - if it helps get something done for gun control or mental health care, it will be good.
