The X by Lorena Bathey -- Book Review

I don't know how your marriage(s) have gone, but mine have ended pretty badly.  From broken promises and dreams -- marriage has not come out on the pro side of my life's spreadsheet.  Lorena Bathey's latest book THE X hits the "marriage nail" right on the head and takes no prisoners!

This was where she had raised her boys, loved her husband, and created a home, but now it was nothing to her.

The wheelbarrow creaked under the weight of all the manure it carried.  Clarissa took the shovel and spread the manure over every rug, piece of furniture, and in every corner of every room of the house.  She filled Ben's closet with it and then put all the rest of his expensive suits, ties, underwear, shoes, and cuff links in the middle.  She threw buckets of water over it making an unholy mess that stunk horribly.

I was hooked from the very first paragraph and honestly I read this book in one day -- I couldn't stop reading!  Two-hundred plus pages of a pure adrenaline rush -- this book made me want to get my martial arts on!

Clarissa started the book as what I refer to as a Stepford Wife:  staying home, raising the kids, little marital interaction, living in a wealthy area and not having to worry about much.  Blissfully unaware of what was going on around her until the doorbell rings and she is served with divorce papers!  Clarissa soon learns what she can do when she puts her mind (and body) to it!

This book made me laugh out loud and I could physically feel her pain in many parts!  If you've been through a divorce, know someone who has or contemplated it I recommend that you read this book first.  While the scenario in this book won't match your experience completely, you will feel this woman's pain and triumphs every step of the way.  This book proves that sometimes you've got to be a bad-ass to come out on top.

I would LOVE to see this book made into a movie and I'm certain it would be a box-office hit.  I hope that Ms. Bathey has some contacts in Hollywood!

I received this book mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  2. I'm sorry to hear about your marriage experiences but glad that this book touched you. It sounds like a very emotional and touching read. I could see you cheering her on and crying with her. It hit you very deeply, and I'm sure it would do the same for numerous other people.
