Urban Word of the Day:   Hold Down the Fort

Definition:   A person who assumes responsibility in another persons absence.

Used in a Sentence:  Hold down the fort for me while I go and see what happened next door!

  1. I love that you have this. It is surprising how many traditional sayings we have that young people have no idea what they mean. Of course I'm having a hard time to learn to speak "text" language too.

  2. This is one hat I've heard and used. I've told my kids to hold down the fort when I'd be gone. It works and fits some situations. You do want them to know they have responsibility.
