Fall is definitely in full swing and the apples are ripe for picking! There's something that is so cathartic about the seasons changing and fields being harvested. It always takes me back to my roots on the farm and the smell of Mom's fresh Apple Crisp!
My friend Beth was kind enough to share her recipe with my readers here:
Beth's Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
5-6 apples
cinnamon
white sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
Directions:
1. Slice apples in baking dish (peeled or unpeeled)
2. Mix cinnamon and sugar together and toss apples in to evenly coat them
3. Mix remaining ingredients with a fork and sprinkle over apples
4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes.
Serve warm with a dollop (or full-size scoop!) of vanilla ice cream!
Yum! This does sound very easy to whip up. And I've got all the ingredients...I think I know what's for dessert tonight!
